Loot Rules

  • 1.) Priority goes to those who can/will use it most.
If a tank piece drops, MT has first dibs, followed by OT, then others.
If a healing piece drops, dedicated healers roll evenly, followed by off-healers.
DPS gear is free roll for those doing DPS, within reason (ie: Shadow Priests and Affliction Warlocks shouldn't be rolling on gear with tons of +crit if a Mage or a non-Afflic Lock wants it, etc.).
Items that are a mixed-bag (certain trinkets, for example) should be discussed by the officers present who will not be rolling on the item. If every officer present would roll on the item, then officers not on the run should be consulted.

2.) One Blue or Purple per run unless everyone else passes.
This has been our standard for a long time. If you got an epic off the first boss, you pass on epics from the second boss unless everyone else passes. There are exceptions, of course, but that's up to the people who it would go to.
This rule covers everyone, including tanks. If the main tank got a drop off Moroes, then the off-tank has priority on tank items from Maiden.
The new BOP recipes don't count, but if you've won a rare recipe, consider passing on the next piece of loot.

3.) Off-sets never, ever have priority.
If you are a healer, you shouldn't roll on DPS gear.
If you are DPS, you shouldn't roll on healing gear.
You would think this would be common sense, but people get confused when it comes to shiny purples that they might be able to use somewhere else.

    4.) Don't bitch.
Seriously. This is a game. Bitching against your poor roll is questionable, but getting pissed because someone else won an item over you is just poor sportsmanship. We all play this game as hobby to have fun. If you aren't having fun, you need a new hobby. We're supposed to be friends having fun together tackling challenges. We shouldn't be getting pissed at each other because we lost a roll on a damned purple.

5.) Bind on Equip items are free roll unless it's an equippable upgrade for someone.
This is a pretty rare occurrence, but it should be considered. A lot of the time, when greens and BOE blues drop, they aren't an upgrade for anyone - especially in a raid. Sometimes it happens though, so take that into consideration.

6.) No item will be sharded unless no one wants it.
If anyone at all will use an item - whether it's an Enhancement Shaman who wants cloth healing shoulders because he might maybe heal someday, or a Prot Warrior who wants a couple of sweet daggers for his DPS set so he can farm more easily - then the item doesn't get sharded. Period.
People (especially enchanters) are on their honor not to abuse this rule. If you roll on every unwanted item and end up with a bunch of void crystals, people are going to be pissed.

7.) Think about what's best for the guild as well as the guildies.
If you're a part-time raider and you roll on something against a full-time raider, consider that you're possibly gimping future runs.
At the same time, if you're a full-time raider and you roll against a part-time raider, consider that you're in here every week and have a better chance at seeing the item drop again.
Also take into consideration if what you're rolling on is a genuine upgrade or if it's just a sidegrade that you really want.
Good of the guild only goes so far - you need to think about what's good for the people in the guild as well.

8.) Mains have priority over alts.
This isn't normally an issue, but given our alt-heavy guild it does crop up from time to time.
The major exception to this rule is when alts are brought in for specific purposes: If a mage has to bring in their shaman to heal, or a priest has to bring in their rogue for DPS, they can roll on appropriate loot.

    9.) Loot Roll Food-chain
When an item is rolled on and you are the high roller you cannot pass the item to a person of your choice. Though this may have the best intentions it is not fair to all the people that rolled on that item. If you decide you do not want the item it will go to the 2nd highest roller.
